About the Position: This position is located with the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP), Ammunition Operations Directorate in McAlester, Oklahoma. McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) was originally commissioned as the Naval Ammunition Depot McAlester on May 20, 1943 and began its first production in September 1943.

* Identify and remove designated material, such as projectiles, cartridges, propelling charges, mines, bombs, grenades, incendiary and chemical ammunition, pyrotechnics, smokeless powder, Trinitrotoluene (TNT).

* Load and unload material on trucks and transport it to disposal areas.

* Place material in trenches, excavations, pits or behind revetment and place appropriate detonating charges, attach fuzes and fuze wires or lay powder train within established regulations.

* Set and fire charges with blasting caps, detonating fuzes, time fuzes, blasting machines, push-down generators or similar equipment.

* Research Department Explosives also known as cyclonit or hexogen (RDX), explosive D and other high explosives from magazines or production areas.

* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

* This position requires you to obtain and maintain an Arms, Ammunition and Explosives Security Certification and Screening.

* This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License within 6 Months of employment, Class B with Hazardous endorsement, handle munitions and explosives.

* This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program and requires you to sign a DA Form 5019-R, identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program,as well as submit to pre-employment and random drug testing.

* This position requires pre-employment and annual physicals.

* This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment, makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition. This includes protection from abuse orders.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Munitions Destroyer without more than normal supervision. Perform the destruction of a variety of explosives and ammunition using explosive ordnance disposal procedures. Must have experience identifying and handling ammunition and explosives. Have the ability to recognize deteriorated, damaged or unserviceable ammunition, explosives, or ammunition components. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: This position requires arduous work including occasional heavy lifting, kneeling, bending, frequent walking and extensive standing at a moderate work pace. All lifts over 50 pounds will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment lifting device. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts.

Working Conditions: The work is performed around moving equipment and there is exposure to dangerous and deteriorated explosives resulting in possibility of toxic smoke inhalation, cuts, bruises, sprains, or burns. The majority of work is performed outside with exposure to all types of weather, dirt, noise, dust, and fumes. At times may be required to work on Production Lines. Must wear protective clothing such as specially treated coveralls, gloves, and respirator protectors.
