The Adaptive Skills Coordinator is a full-time position with day time hours. Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Job Summary:

The Adaptive Skills Coordinator will have overall responsibility for development and delivery of a developmentally appropriate program designed to meet the educational, vocational, social, sensory, communication and recreational needs of adults with a variety of disabilities. This will include coordination, training and supervision of staff that will perform duties in the Adaptive Skills Program. The Adaptive Skills Coordinator will provide daily support to the persons receiving services and maintain a primary caseload of individuals for whom they may facilitate individual planning meetings and develop individual support plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Develop individualized instruction for class participants in the areas of vocational skills, independent living skills, client skills and leisure activities.

* Provide training, supervision and coordination of staff, supplies and transportation for events and programs, including participation in adaptive skills activities.

* Develop and nurture positive relationships within the community to leverage resources for programming and integration.

* Report regular progress to participant, referral sources and other interested parties.

* Collaborate on development of budget for Adaptive Skills program.

* Work as part of a team and maintain good public relations with staff, community representatives, local residential programs, participants, parents and teams.

* Coordinate the meeting dates and times for persons on the primary caseload consistent with the CSSP Addendum and ensure critical information is effectively communicated with support staff, other DT&H Team Leaders, county personnel and residential staff.

* Be familiar with a variety of person-centered planning processes and facilitation techniques in order to determine and support the planning process that best meets the needs of the individual.

* Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of service delivery, methodologies and progress on the individual's outcomes and for communicating with team members to come to an agreement on future approaches.

* Complete paperwork as required by all licensing/accreditation regulations and agency policies.

* Responsible for keeping abreast of changes and new techniques in order to provide state-of-the-art services to the individuals assigned to the team.

* Contribute to the organization's mission by complying with policies and procedures and performing other duties of a similar nature or level.


* Must have experience developing and implementing curriculum in a classroom setting, experience working with people with developmental and mental disabilities and their families, and one of the follow qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in a related field to human services plus one year of full-time work, or;

* Associate's Degree in a related field to human services plus two years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to people with disabilities or age 65 or older, or;

* Diploma in a field related to human services from an accredited post-secondary institution plus three years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to people with disabilities, or age 65 and older, or;

* Four years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to people with disabilities, or age 65 and older, under the supervision of a staff person who meets the qualifications listed in 1 through 3.

* Be able to effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations.

* Strong organizational skills and ability to perform required record keeping.

* Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and good verbal and written communication.

* Must be able to manage time well and perform multiple assignments at once and

* maintain a professional demeanor with clients and customers.

* Demonstrated proficiency in computer based office software, including Word Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Acrobat Writer and Outlook.

* Demonstrated ability to make sound independent decisions.

* Hold a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.

* Ability to obtain a DOT certification.
