As a Facilities Mechanical Systems Engineer at Micron's Manassas, Virginia, site, you will provide engineering for planning, design, and operations and maintenance support of the following systems site wide:

* Industrial and Office HVAC

* Cleanroom Air

* Steam, Heating Water, and Chilled Water

* Plumbing

* General, Solvent, Ammonia, and Acids Exhaust

* Process Cooling Water

* Compressed Air

Responsible for the review and estimate of design costs, labor, materials and other related costs associated with facility planning, construction, and on-going operational efficiency. May directly develop facilities plans, or work with external vendors to develop and implement facilities plans. Ensure adherence to company facility standards. May develop criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment or operating requirements. In this position, you will work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines to provide detailed designs and construction specifications for the installation of new capital equipment and systems. Your engineering duties will require that you exercise good judgment and apply standard engineering principles and practices. While investigating technical problems, you will establish procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.

The scope of your work will include providing support and assistance for the start up of new equipment, and ensuring that all equipment will properly interface with other mechanical and electrical systems. You will maintain various administrative and engineering databases in support of job tracking, engineering data, capital equipment facilitation, and critical system loads and capacities. While supporting design projects, you will be responsible for assuring designs meet all applicable codes and regulations, which will require continual review and analysis of new and existing equipment, applications, and technology. Utilizing NFPA, IFC and IBC, you will provide code review and analysis. You can expect to perform research and development on emerging facilities technologies to support cutting-edge semiconductor processes. Your responsibilities will also include participating in mid- to long-term infrastructure planning for facilities in support of the overall company plan. As you engineer safety into all designs, you will be aware of and perform all work in accordance with company safety guidelines. You will be required to maintain good communication within the Facilities department and with all customers throughout the organization.

Areas of Responsibilities include:

Problem and Data Analysis:

* Identify root causes of equipment or systems performance shifts

* Use statistics and data analysis to identify and resolve process and equipment problems

* Provides suggestions for process or equipment changes to improve Facility Metrics

* Applies judgment in analytical problem solving to resolve issues and make data driven decisions

* Identifies risk analysis for your systems and develop plans to resolve gaps in this analysis

Equipment and Facility Processes:

* Provide cost effective solutions to real time equipment and process problems

* Evaluate new or modified equipment and make recommendations

* Use, identify and implement equipment and process control methods providing solutions based on the information

* Develop and implement long term improvements in equipment or processes that result in cost reduction, improved reliability and safety improvements.

* Implement lessons learned to improve and prevent future problems. Help oversee the execution of these items.

* Identifies and evaluates interactions between equipment and processes and resolve potential problems

* Conduct research on new equipment or equipment modifications developing innovative solutions

* Coordinate a team to solve equipment/process issues

* Represent the department in your area of responsibility

* Coordinate vendors / contractors as required to complete your work

* Assist in identifying facility standards that can be implemented at the site or globally

* Analyze the cost structure of your systems and recommend actions to minimize costs


* Participate in or manage specific projects

* Participate in cross function projects

* Analyze project budgets and determine ROI and/or NPV

Environmental, Health, Safety and Security:

* Champion all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

* Be an active participant in the EHSS program by reporting all EHSS-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (ERT, Supervision, etc.)

* Be proactive in reducing incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards or environmental releases.

Expense Reduction:

* As a Team Member at Micron, you are responsible for reducing costs associated with your area. This responsibility may include owning and completing cost reduction projects, identifying cost effective sustaining/manufacturing improvements, minimizing regular expenditures, and helping to promote a cost conscious culture.


Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

* Engineering - Mechanical


At least 3 years of experience in any of the following:

* Engineering

* Semiconductor
