Dietary Aide III

The Dietary Aide III position is responsible for filling in for the manager when he/she is not present. Also responsible for the pleasant meal service to residents, staff, and visitors; preparation of food items as specified; tray assembly; guest and dining room meals; and for maintaining a continual upkeep and sanitation of the kitchen area and equipment.


1. Function as supervisor when that area's supervisor is not at work. Responsibilities include staffing, supervision of staff, meal service timeliness, food presentation, and accuracy to residents. May include checking out of staff at the end of a shift and assigning job duties to dietary aide I and II's.

2. Provide meals to residents in dining room or through tray service according to menu modified diets and the individual needs of the resident.

3. Working in the dishroom as needed and proper storage of clean dishes.

4. Serving of resident meals in Dining Room according to menu, modified diets, and individual needs of the residents.

5. Clean-up, sanitation, and the re-setting of the dining room for the following meal.

6. Maintaining clean, sanitized areas: work station, kitchen, and dishroom.

7. Preparation of food items as specified with each position.

8. Responsible for communicating with the Dining Services Manager any concerns that pertain to residents, visitors, co-workers, or the operation of the Dining Services Department.

9. Proper storing of food, including leftovers.

10. Taking out the dining service trash.

11. Attendance at staff development sessions for growth and development as an Oakwood team member, as well as, to meet regulatory standards.

12. Perform other similar duties as needed as an Oakwood team member in fulfilling the Oakwood mission.

Hours include every other weekend.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to communicate effectively with the staff and residents.

2. Able to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.

3. Basic knowledge of health care food service.

4. Ability to carry out job responsibilities in an accurate and conscientious manner.

5. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.

6. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work load.

7. Ability to work within established policies and procedures.

8. Ability to work in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork in meeting the mission of Oakwood.

9. Willingness to accept a weekend and holiday work schedule.


1. Minimum 1 year food service experience

2. High school education or equivalency preferred.
