Capitol Heat & Power Plant Superintendent

The Power Plant Superintendent position is responsible for the management of the daily CHPP operations. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: planning, scheduling, and supervising daily power plant operational activities; planning, scheduling and supervising power plant maintenance and repair activities; manage and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); and act as the first line supervisor for subordinate power plant personnel. Willingness and adaptability to work under unpleasant conditions such as extreme noise, dusty or dirty areas, extreme heat and cold, in wet areas and confined spaces is required. Candidate must be able to physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.

This position is part of the 24/7 plant coverage and may be assigned to various shifts including a rotating schedule that includes day, nights, afternoons and most weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have experience in operation of power plant equipment (e.g. gas & oil boilers, steam turbines, electrical generators, or similar), power plant equipment maintenance (e.g. pumps, compressors, water systems, electronic controls, or similar), and facilities management leadership (e.g. taking lead, acting as lead worker, supervision, or similar).

In addition to the above qualifications, well qualified candidates will have experience in record keeping (e.g. operations, emissions, fuel tank, and material safety data sheet records, or similar) and managing a preventative maintenance program.
