Under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant to the Chairman, the Administrative Assistant of Radiology is responsible for providing program support to the Community Radiology Division of the University of Wisconsin, Department of Radiology. This position will serve as the main contact and liaison for the Community Radiology Division physicians and staff located at Meriter Hospital and 1 S. Park. In working with the UW Radiology Division physicians, Chairman and administrative staff, this position will be responsible for streamlining inter-related program activities and assuring efficient daily operation. This position will be responsible for general office management, organization, efficiency, and communication with all parties involved. This position will work closely with a diverse group of individuals. The Administrative Assistant must use a high level of independent judgment and decision making while providing a wide variety of administrative support and assistance to professional and other administrative staff.


Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent education

Preferred: 2 years of post-secondary education in business related field or equivalent

Work Experience:

Minimum: 2 - 3 years of administrative/executive assistant experience or equivalent, medical setting preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

* Computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel)

* Ability to independently problem solve and make decisions, within scope of responsibility

* Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

* Detail-oriented, including excellent organizational skills

* Pleasant phone and in-person demeanor

* Ability to work with diverse population of people

* Ability to work with confidential information

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements: Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Schedule: 100% FTE, 40 hours per week. 8:00am - 4:30pm with 30 minute lunch break (flexible), Monday through Friday with no regularly scheduled weekends. Eight (8) legal holidays off each year, and no on-call. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
