Medical Billing Associate

Employees in this position are responsible for the maintenance of patient billing accounts and performing numerous related functions to accomplish this task; such as, patient registration, insurance follow-up, financial screening of unfunded patients, answering patient billing inquiries, collection of unpaid balances and posting of payments. Major/Essential Functions

Audit Clinic daily deposits, balance and log deposits and patient payments, balance cash drawer, post patient payments.

Occasional Duties

Post insurance payments and rejections to patient accounts.

Required Qualifications Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of general office experience.OR

At least 90 days of service at TTUHSC as a Medical Billing Associate Trainee and a current performance appraisal with a rating of meeting or exceeding expectations. Preferred Qualifications

General skills with Excel, Outlook, typing, 10-key by touch. Knowledge of medical insurance carriers from a Provider standpoint. Effective communication skills. Ability to interact in a positive manner with others and be able to handle a high volume work environment. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to determine if deposits balance.
