The incumbent is responsible for the efficient maintenance and construction of assigned electric power transmission facilities and structures which encompass transmission lines, substations, communications, supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA), meter, relay, control and protection facilities. Establishes priorities for assigned facilities taking into consideration Western NERC and regional (MRO/WECC) standards for system reliability. Accomplishes responsibilities through subordinate level supervisors, team-leaders, engineers, technicians and skilled crafts persons. Evaluates and recommends resource requirements (staff, equipment, facilities, funding, etc.) necessary to maintain assigned programs and facilities. Recommends and implements changes in Western and DOE policies, operating procedures, equipment, technological processes, etc., to promote more effective and economical operation of the power system and utilization of resources. Collaborates in the review and analysis of transmission system operation including system disturbances.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Occasionally travel, may be required 1-4 days per month.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: This experience would include working in the operation and maintenance of a high voltage electric power transmission system sufficient to oversee the replacement and rehabilitation of electric power transmission systems.
