The Emerging Technology Engineer 1 assists in the analysis of the requirements for the enterprise and applying emerging technologies to support long-term business objectives. Responsible for researching, collecting, and disseminating information on emerging technologies and key learnings throughout the enterprise. The Emerging Technology Engineer 1 work assignments are often straightforward and of moderate complexity.

Responsibilities

The Emerging Technology Engineer 1 researches and recommends changes to foundation architecture. Supports research projects to identify and evaluate emerging technologies. Interfaces with users and staff to evaluate possible implementation of the new technology in the enterprise, consistent with the goal of improving existing systems and technologies and in meeting the needs of the business. Analyzes and researches process of deployment and assists in this process. Understands own work area professional concepts/standards, regulations, strategies and operating standards. Makes decisions regarding own work approach/priorities, and follows direction. Work is managed and often guided by precedent and/or documented procedures/regulations/professional standards with some interpretation.

Learn, develop, and engage in developing Watson Assistant - IBM Conversational Platform for Humana. Understand how to develop conversation service that can create virtual agents and chat bots that combine machine learning, natural language understanding, and integrated dialog scripting tools to provide outstanding customer engagements.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years programming experience, including IBM-Watson Assistant, JSON, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g. Node.JS, Git)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Proven experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer or similar role
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Visio, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Advanced Microsoft Access skills including ability to link to external data sources, pass-through queries, data structure and relationship design.
  • Experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations and/or the analysis of healthcare data
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn new languages and technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Cognitive Intelligence technologies
  • Prior experience with SpEL (Spring Expression Language)
  • Prior experience with Node.js
  • Prior experience in health insurance industry
  • Demonstrated experience with process documentation and re-engineering
  • Experience with tools such as SPLUNK, Tableau and Qlik for reporting and creating data visualizations
  • Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, SAS and other data systems
  • Experience in a system analytics and/or data warehousing environment
  • Experience working with new and unproven technologies.
  • PMP certification through Global Certification Organization (Ex: PMI)
  • Six Sigma Certification
