Russian Speaking Jewish Family and Youth Educator

Position Summary:Serves under the direct supervision of the Russian Speaking Jewish Program Manager.Responsible for Russian Speaking Jewish Family and Youth Programs. Plans, does outreach for, staffs and evaluates monthly Heder and Club Noar events held either at the APJCC or in other locations in the community.

Communicates with instructors, students, and participants about Russian Speaking Jewish classes and programs. Provides administrative support for large community programs. Coordinates events, classes and activities with the Russian Speaking Jewish Program Manager. Strives to further the mission of the APJCC by creating quality Jewish programming for the the Russian Speaking Jewish Community, APJCCs membership, and the larger South Bay community.

All employees of the APJCC are responsible to create relationships with the members to add value to their membership and enhance their sense of belonging with the APJCC community.

Essential Functions:


* Create and distribute flyers and posters for youth and family programs in coordination with the Marketing Director

* Ensures marketing materials are approved by the Marketing Director.

* Updating community calendar (JValley)

* Work with volunteers to get RSJ youth and family programs listed in local calendars


* Fields phone calls on RSJ youth and family events and programs

* Communicate with youth and family program participants


* Develop and promote family programs which encourage holiday observance and Jewish engagement among Russian-Speaking Jews

* Teach classes as needed and as business dictates

* Staff and manage youth and family components of large RSJ holiday programs (8x/year)

* Coordinate and cooperate with other departments on joint programs

* Secures necessary program supplies

* Provide administrative and staffing support for other RSJ programs as business dictates

* Collaborate with other program areas as needed

* Support and staff agency-wide programs throughout the year

* Manage rosters


* Track expenditures and ensure paperwork trail

* Make all youth and family purchases on behalf of the department.

* Participate in the development of and maintain responsibility for the administration of the departmental budgets.

* Monitor revenue and expense reports on a daily basis

Minimum Qualifications:


* Undergraduate Degree in Jewish Studies, Jewish Education, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.

* 3-5 years of experience in youth and family program development and management

* Demonstrated effective communication skills both verbally and written

* Native fluency in Russian and English, both oral and written

* Ability to multi-task effectively under pressure

Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.:

* Experience working with lay leaders and committees

* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, proficient on Google documents and calendar.

* Deep knowledge of the Jewish community, Jewish culture, Jewish history, and Jewish values

* This position is contingent upon the completion and cleared background check of a fingerprint and live scan assessment.

Working Conditions:

* Community Center environment with both office and program responsibilities

* Ability to sit/stand for long periods

* Ability to lift/carry 45 lbs.

* Available to work nontraditional business hours will require occasional evenings and/or weekend work.
