Position Description


Under the direction of the CFO, the Senior Accountant is primarily contact and coordinator for the Hospital's Accounting Department. The Senior Account will oversee the 3 Accounting and Payroll staff. The Senior Accountant with assistance from the Staff Accountant will prepare and post all Journal Entries, Prepare Financial Statements, Supporting Documents, and assist in all Accounting functions for the hospital. This includes All AR entries, Payroll entries, Fixed Asset entries, Inventory and other expenses. The Senior Accountant reconciles the AR, Inventory and Fixed Asset accounts and is the lead for all audits and reviews both internal and external.


Staff Supervision:

Senior accounting oversees the work of 3 staff in the accounting and payroll departmentServe as back up for staff accountant and AP accountantServe as back up for preparation of Daily Census, UOS, Prepaid and Amortization schedules

General Accounting:

Senior accountant is responsible for posting Patient Revenue contractual adjustments, Bad Debt and Credit balancesSenior accounting is responsible for reconciling and posting Payroll and benefits entries including shared employees, managing fixed assets and depreciation entries, and all corporate and intercompany transactionsSenior Accountant calculates accruals for expenses including but not limited to, contract labor, utilities and other operating expenses.Balance sheet Reconciliation of the following accounts:All AR related accountsAll Inventory related accountsAll Fixed Asset related accountsAll Current and Long Term Liability accounts


Review and process Bi-Weekly General Ledger payroll data (Ultipro)Prepare Bi-Weekly GL payroll upload files and reportsPrepare and save month end PR accrual calculations, including TAP/MTAP Balance reportsAssist and advise PR Accountant on various PR related mattersFinancial Report Preparation:

Prepare Financial reports P&L, BS and Cash FlowPrepare Monthly Operation ReportsFiscal and Calendar Year End Audits:

Prepare, organize and deliver Audit Documentation request as per External AuditorsPrepare and post Audit Adjustments as directedUpdate financial reports as appropriate


Education and Experience:

Bachelors in Accounting or related field required

3-5 years of accounting experience with at least 1 year hospital accounting required

3-5 years of accounting experience in hospital accounting preferred
