Requisition Number: 31590 Job Title: DENTIST, ASSOCIATE Working Title: Section of Periodontics Clinic Assistant Director Salary: Salary commensurate with skills, knowledge and experience Job Type: Contract Department Name: 1350-DENTISTRY Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: The Section of Periodontics Clinic Assistant Director is responsible for the clinic operations of the general and periodontal surgery clinics, where the academic unit provides instruction to pre-doctoral students. In those scenarios, he/she is responsible for supervising the work of and providing administrative support to the clinic teaching operations for the Section of Periodontics. He/she conducts hands-on teaching and interacts directly with students, residents and part-time faculty members in matters related to complying with dental practice and university regulations, solving problems related to the teaching schedule, and functioning as liaison to Group Practice Administrators and Directors. Other aspects of the position include equipment maintenance oversight, communication with the school facilities supervisor and providing limited supervision to the staff in the periodontal surgery clinic. He/she will also assist the Periodontics pre-doctoral Clinic Director and Chair in monitoring the clinical progress of individual students toward graduation. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm Qualifications for Position

Periodontist licensed to practice in the State of California with knowledge and experience in the practice of Periodontics.

Required

Completion of a Commission on Dental Accreditation accredited residency in Periodontics.

Required

Skill in analyzing data and evaluating practices and procedures to identify problems; ability to formulate, recommend and implement more effective organizational policies and practices.

Required

Skill in decision making with a complex patient care environment.

Required

Skills in fostering a collaborative learning and practice environment of students, staff, faculty and administration.

Required

Demonstrated skill in understanding and working with patients from multi-cultural backgrounds.

Required

Demonstrated skill, knowledge and ability in the performance and teaching of all phases of Periodontics both in pre-doctoral teaching and in an academic environment.

Required

Demonstrated skill to work effectively with the public and students in a health care setting, and to interact diplomatically and effectively with patients in varying degrees of health in a high volume, public setting.

Required

Demonstrated knowledge of what constitutes confidential information and skill in maintaining confidentiality with regard to sensitive patient, faculty, student and staff information.

Required

Experience in supervising staff including assigning work, providing performance evaluations and conducting corrective action.
