Under direct supervision of the Breast Imaging Director, Breast regional supervisor and Medical Director coordinate daily workflow of the department, keeping open communication with the Breast Imaging Radiologist. Breast Imaging Lead technologist is expected to be familiar with American College of Radiology's Mammography Accreditation and MQSA requirements. . The incumbent will maintain open, collaborative, responsive and consultative working relationships with the staff and faculty within Radiology, as well as personnel from other sections. In concert with the Clinical Director(s) and / or Section/Division Medical Director(s) will provide assistance for developing and implementing modality system protocols, maintaining accreditation of the assigned modality, implementing technical competencies.

Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of the Breast Imaging Director, Breast regional supervisor and Medical Director coordinate daily workflow of the department, keeping open communication with the Breast Imaging Radiologist. Breast Imaging Lead technologist is expected to be familiar with American College of Radiology's Mammography Accreditation and MQSA requirements. . The incumbent will maintain open, collaborative, responsive and consultative working relationships with the staff and faculty within Radiology, as well as personnel from other sections. In concert with the Clinical Director(s) and / or Section/Division Medical Director(s) will provide assistance for developing and implementing modality system protocols, maintaining accreditation of the assigned modality, implementing technical competencies.

The incumbent will perform complex Mammographic exams as needed, to include the operation of Dimensions and Selenia mammographic systems to produce diagnostic images of the breast anatomy following prescribed protocols. The incumbent will demonstrate a clear understanding of human anatomy, medical terminology and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in patient positioning and image acquisition. The incumbent will assists section Radiologists in interventional mammography and US guided procedures under the direct supervision of a Radiologist and in accordance with department/hospital, policies as well as state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of Mammography Experience.

The lead technologist is expected to possess the skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position; graduate of a Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by the American Medical Association or equivalent training; five years experience in Breast Imaging preferred.

Breast Imaging technologist will produce diagnostic images of the breast utilizing a variety of mammography and or ultrasound equipment.

Duties include patient education prior to the examination; preparation of needed supplies and equipment set up; assist in performing sterile technique procedures as required; follow established quality assurance procedures; maintain patient dignity and confidentiality; assist Radiologist as needed; perform related duties as requested.

  • Skill in reading documents written in standard English, including (but not limited to) requisitions, medical, documents, and policy and procedure manuals technical and operator equipment manual
