AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance Theatre and Performing Arts, as well as two year conservatory programs.

The Campus Safety Officer will maintain a safe and secure environment for students, and the AMDA community, by acting as the primary crime prevention and first responder entity on campus. The Campus Safety Officer will work in collaboration with AMDA Security under the direction of the Residential/Security Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Respond to medical emergency situations and contact emergency personnel; render emergency first aid and CPR when needed and stabilize the injured person prior to arrival of the paramedics

* Respond to emergency and routine incidents; move quickly to location and effectively diffuse dangerous situations

* Coordinate and guide responding police and fire/paramedic units in person or via phone or wireless radio

* Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team; Assist in communicating information to the Emergency Response Team members during an evacuation and/or other emergency situation

* Assist in execution of practice and actual evacuation drills

* Provide ongoing inspections of the campus via foot patrol to discourage and deter crime; reporting unusual activities or incidents

* Observe campus and perimeter activities to identify and intercept suspicious or unauthorized individuals, vehicles and/or materials

* Manage any arising conflict as efficiently and safely as possible; Certain crisis situations may require decisive action under extreme pressure

* Provide safety escorts to students, faculty, and staff on and off campus

* Provide a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities or suspicious activities on and around campus

* Investigate and report all incidents/accidents, theft and other security concern

* Report crimes and violations of AMDA regulations verbally and in writing, conduct initial investigations, write incident reports

* Submit Daily Activity Report (DAR) by end of shift; Report to include all tasks performed and relevant campus activities observed during shift

* Assist with scheduling and overseeing Residential Safety Officers under the direction of the Residential/Security Supervisor as needed

* Act as the AMDA Security main point of contact when the Residential/Security Supervisor is unavailable or off campus


* High school graduate or equivalent

* First Aid and CPR required; AED preferred

* Minimum 2 years of first responder experience

* Minimum of 2 years security experience, performing patrol to deter criminal activity

* Ability to communicate in a helpful, courteous, effective and professional manner in person, by telephone, two way radio, and electronic media

* Ability to handle sensitive student interactions and maintain confidentiality

* Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining control and self-composure during stressful circumstances

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Self starter with minimal supervision required

* Ability to operate Microsoft Office computer systems

* Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
