Position Description

Tenure Track Faculty

Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities. Qualified applicants must have a completed DMA or PhD in Choral Conducting, Choral Music, or Sacred Music. ABD applicants will be considered with expectation that all degree requirements will be completed by the beginning of the fall semester. The position will begin on August 15, 2019.

Responsibilities conducting two auditioned choirs, the Consort Singers a mixed chamber choir and the Concert Choir a 50-60 voice choir; teaching undergraduate courses related to the choral discipline (conducting, choral rehearsal methods etc.); overseeing organizational planning for all choral undertakings; offering additional courses commensurate with the applicant's skills or research interests. Such experience in related musical fields is desirable. The ideal candidate will be active in recruitment for the Department of Music as well as attracting and/or retaining new members of the choral ensembles.

The Music program offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. The music faculty consists of five full-time tenure-track/tenured positions and two full-time clinical positions. This faculty is dedicated to supporting a liberal arts curriculum and excellent undergraduate training in Music.
