Job Summary

Works under the direction and supervision of the Pharmacists and the Director of Pharmacy. Responsible for accurately and efficiently performing the job requirements of Unit Dose Drug Distribution Service, I.V. Admixture Program including hyper alimentation compounding, the repackaging service and the Outpatient and Employee Prescription Service. In addition, responsible for checking floor stock, dispensing narcotics, maintaining appropriate records, checking drug outdates and maintenance of cleanliness and order in the department, limited non-sterile compounding, limited supervision and training and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Minimum


Must be certified as a Pharmacy Technician. Knowledge of basic mathematics and science at a level normally acquired through completion of a high school education is necessary.

Approximately three to six months of related work experience is highly desirable with an understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical products.

The applicant for Pharmacy Technician must successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician Training Program and show the ability to supervise and teach others.

All applicants must demonstrate proficiency in all programs conducted by the department and correctly complete 70% of the verbal and written examinations to be completed at the end of the training period.
