Provide the necessary Press Engineering and Automation skills to the Engineering department to support the Company in achieving optimal levels of safety, quality, profitability, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.


* Support the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.

* Provide key input into the development of the department's strategic business plan and identify and track key measurables to support the department business plan goals.

* Develops specifications for new stamping press systems.

* Maintain stamping press specifications and standards.

* Lead capital improvement projects including writing specifications, project tracking and budget responsibility.

* Support operations in press and automation problems including continuous improvement projects.

* Support operations in planned and preventative maintenance procedures for stamping presses and automation.

* Ensure accountability and discipline within the Press engineering department.

* Track, monitor and implement required improvement activities related to business plan, goals, issues, etc.

* Assists operations in routine repairs, emergency breakdowns, and refurbishment of stamping equipment.

* Directs outside engineering services with suppliers.

* Maintain the EXISTING Press Capacity Data Base tool; Includes

* Work with Die Engineers to appropriately source new model dies

* Upload Die Process Sheets into Capacity Planning Tool

* Ensure ALL die SPM standards are accurate and tied to the EWS/BWS files (B7)

* Maintain the Existing Assembly White Space Document

* Update the Press Capacity Tool quarterly using NEW LRP volumes; Work with all NA Stamping Plants to validate the data

* Communicate data to Customer Service Team; Participate in Quote Meetings to ensure all parties are in agreement with Press & Assembly Capacity

* Work with Engineers & Plants on Plant Modernization Projects...Many Projects will require significant press releases; Press Resourcing and Off-Load might be required

* Assist in the planning of the utilization of facilities & plant equipment to improve operations

* Support the NA Press & Assembly Preventative Maintenance Program

* Support large scale installations i.e. paint, press, equipment, etc.

* Responsible for adhering to all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.

* Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area.

* Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization including suppliers.

* Assures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations and laws.

* Adherence to all company policies and procedures (ex. Quality Policy Manual, Colleague Handbook, Level II Procedures etc.)


Reports directly to the Manager of Press and Automation. Interfaces on a frequent basis with Tool & Die, Purchasing, Operations, and members of the department and other departments.


* Ability to identify, select, train, and coach engineering talent.

* Provides model behavior to demonstrate corporate values.


* Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Master's Degree preferred.

* Minimum six (6) or more years of related technical, hands on experience.

* Working knowledge of Autocad.

* Travel up to 50%, ability to travel for 3-4 days at a time.

* Working knowledge of overhead cranes, stamping presses, transfer systems, destackers, coil feed lines and scrap conveyers are a plus.

* Knowledge of general machine safety, electrical safety and machine guarding components; high level of safety awareness (RIA and OSHA}.

* Knowledge of manufacturing process for complex stampings.

* Experience with hydraulic and mechanical stamping presses and press room automation.

* Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.

* Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

* Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Excellent Excel skills.

* Experience in Program Management.

* Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.


Duties include but are not limited to: stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear. Ability to travel. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration and hazardous materials.
