Job Description :

This position is within the RF Payloads Center of Excellence to support new programs and technology development of communications systems The individual will participate in the architecture, design, analysis and test of payload/communication subsystems for new technology development as part of RF Systems Engineering. The individual will participate in the design and analysis of the end-to-end communication systems including payload, antenna, terminals and gateways for new and on-going satellite programs. Specific tasks include :

* Develop the architecture, trades, link budgets and analysis for new communications technologies and flexible payloads

* Develop models and tools for systems trades for link budgets, capacity, availability, beam plans, frequency reuse plans and resource allocations

* Perform analysis, modeling and simulation of end-to-end communication systems to verify performance

* Develop RF/communication payload specifications and flow requirements from system/spacecraft/communication subsystem specifications to all affected RF component, antenna and bus subsystems.

* Perform the design of new RF and Communications subsystems - from components to boxes to systems

* Develop payload design documentation to communicate payload designs to internal design and business teams, vendors and customers.

* Support the build, test and verification of RF and Communications engineering development units

* Interface with subject matter experts and providers of various subsystem products and technologies

* Support new business and technology opportunities through RFI/RFP and internal investments

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with relevant course in the area of communications and related areas

Industry experience in the area of communications analysis, signal processing and systems development

Demonstrated experience in modeling and simulation using MATLAB or similar tools

Effective written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with MS Office tools

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

Desired skills

Master degree in signal processing, communications or related field

Experience in satellite payload, or satellite gateway/terminal development
