UMMS is currently seeking a Finance Intern for our Linthicum location.

THIS IS NOT A FULL TIME POSITION; IT IS A SUPPLEMENTAL INTERN POSITION

Under direct supervision, the college intern works directly with various Finance staff to develop, analyze report and interpret financial and statistical information to assist management in the formation, implementation and execution of the organization's business plans.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

1. The intern will be responsible for assisting in the reconciliation preparation processes in the areas of cash, salary payables, and fixed assets

2. The intern should be able to perform basic Accounting functions, such as journal entries

3. The intern will participate in the development of financial reporting analysis

4. Time permitting; the intern will assist in special projects

5. Other duties as assigned

What You Need to Be Successful:

Education and Experience

Enrolled in a Baccalaureate degree program.

Two years college is preferred. Courses taken to date should include courses related to the following: Introduction to Financial Management, Accounting I and II, Statistics, Information and Technology for Business and Introduction to Cost Accounting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to judge the level of confidentiality of information / activities involved in and exhibit integrity in use of dissemination of such information.

Demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheets (i.e., Microsoft Excel) and word processing programs (i.e., Microsoft

Word, Microsoft Access).

Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary in dealing with a variety of healthcare and finance professionals.

Effective organization and problem-solving skills.

Ability to assess and evaluate financial data via use of computer analysis.

Ability to work effectively in a stressful work environment
