Overview

The Controller leads the entire Accounting/Financial Reporting/Human Resources functions for $30+ million multi-unit fast casual restaurant chain tripling in size over the next 4 years. Responsible to manage all Accounting functions providing financial information about all company activities that will assist management in making educated economic decisions about the company's performance, future, & areas of opportunity.

ResponsibilitiesLeads Accounting Duties: Oversees daily activities, including company accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processes, treasury and tax compliance; ensures that deadlines are met and all accounting and financial records are accurate. Oversees hiring and succession planning for the accounting department.Manages Accounting Practices: Creates & establishes accounting policies, practices and procedures; evaluates practices and makes recommendations to improve policies, procedures and internal controls so that such policies and procedures are in accordance with evolving regulations, legal requirements and industry practice; enhance and maintain company's system of internal controls.Directs Financial Reporting: Oversees the timely preparation of all periodic or routine operational and corporate financial reports (internal & external); monitors and reports on monthly operating results vs. budget. Prepares and presents financial data in a manner that will assist management and other users in making educated economic decisions about the Company's performance and future.Tax Compliance: Works with our 3rd party tax accountants on all tax reporting functions & accuracy. Filing of information returns with the IRS.Credit Facility: Assists the CEO in the administration of the company's credit agreement including the required compliance reporting, debt covenants & revolving line of credit / cash management.Coordinates Annual Audit & Valuation: Acts as primary liaison with company's outside auditors.Financial Records, Forecast Models, & Budgeting: Acts as a key liaison between the franchisee & franchisor for all accounting functions & reporting. Has the ability to put together forecast models and budgeting based on those models working with the Marketing & Operations Departments. In addition, can present reports & analysis based on past performance as well as forecasted performance in a timely manor.Business Support: Acts as a partner to restaurant management & the restaurant support office functions to provide accurate & timely data to positively influence business results.Project Support: Works with other departments on a wide variety of initiatives or projects to maintain & improve the company's systems & processes.Human Resource Mgmt.: Will act as the Human Resource contact for all items related to the payroll processing system, state & federal communication & make recommendations based on information obtained through those communications.Benefits Management: Benefit preparation and administration; reviews programs and makes suggestions for improvement regularly to ensure a competitive market position.Qualifications

* Current or previous Controller experience REQUIRED

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and CPA required

* 5+ years of public accounting experience (preferably with a national accounting firm)

* 5+ years multi-unit restaurant or retail accounting experience preferred

* Knowledge of QuickBooks Online

* Must have extensive knowledge of general computer systems including all components of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

* Strong knowledge of Financial Reporting, Analysis, Budgeting, Payroll, Inventory, Accounts Payable, and Sales required

* Ability to meet deadlines
