Harnett County Department of Social Services is currently recruiting for an Income Maintenance Caseworker II to process applications and determine eligibility for Adult Medicaid programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position involves maintaining a large client caseload and performing functions to include intake, processing, review and completion of applications which will require obtaining all pertinent data concerning clients' family composition, financial, employment and health status. This position processes applications through the verification of all information obtained during the intake process. This worker is expected to make the final decision in determining eligibility by exercising prudent judgment and using the timeframes and guidelines set by the program. The worker in this position must be human-services oriented and possess the ability to interact well with supervisors, co-workers and customers in a professional manner.
This position will require assisting in emergency and/or disaster situations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
Education and Experience:
One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licensing and Certifications:
Successful completion of a drug screening and criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.
