The Medical Technologist positionrequires a bachelors degree with the ability to sit for MT (or equivalent) ASCPcertification to be acquired within the first year of employment.

Position Summary:

Perform a variety of chemical,microscopic, and bacteriologic procedures of a moderately and highly complexnature, following established standards and practices to obtain data for use indiagnosis and treatment of disease. Provide direct care of patients of all ages.

Have earned a Bachelor's Degreein Medical Technology or related science from an accredited school. Tier two employees would have a maximum ofone year to become accredited by either ASCP, CLS or equivalent regulatorybody. Failure to become accreditedwithin the allotted time period will lead to dismissal.

Adequate conversational Englishis required in order that the individual be able to take direction frommanagement, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately withpatients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines,and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies.

Working Relationships:

The Medical Technologist 2 isresponsible to the Laboratory Supervisor and/or section manager. The Medical Technologist 2 does notsupervise other employees. Is in dailycontact with physicians, nurses and other professional employees.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

Must be able to perform difficult manipulativeskills and tasks that require hand-eye coordination and arm-handsteadiness. Must be able to walk, standextensively, lift 30 lbs., remain in uncomfortable positions for a long time,visually discriminate close objects and far away objects and colors, anddistinguish and hear normal sounds. Maybe exposed to blood, body tissues and fluids, other hazardous waste materials,dust, chemicals, and unpleasant or strong odors.
