* St. Mary's Health System, a member of Covenant Health, is seeking a full-time Emergency Department Technician to join our busy Emergency Department! The ED Tech is an essential member of the Patient Focused Care Team, responsible for performing patient care and other related duties with supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.

St. Mary's Emergency Department offers a full-spectrum of emergency care and a separate chest pain center. We build strong relationships with tertiary hospitals to ensure the best possible care for patients. The Emergency Center is staffed 24 hours per day with Emergency Medicine Physicians. The team is made up of specially trained nurses, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. Many specialties such as cardiology, neurology, orthopedists, and psychiatrist are available around the clock to assist in the care of our patients.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with preparing patients for examinations and treatments in the ED

* Perform vital signs, intake & Output, phlebotomy (as needed), insertion of peripheral IV saline lock, specimen collections (as ordered) and medication administration.

* Promptly communicates to professional partner or Emergency Department Provider any changes in patient vital signs or conditions

* Gives patient care by understanding the dynamics and utilizing interpersonal relationships therapeutically.

Education and Requirements:

* High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree preferred

* Must be either registered Medical Assistant OR EMT-Advanced/Paramedic license with State of Maine (If Medical Assistant, must already be registered with nationally recognized organization or have graduated from 2-year accredited MA program and obtain certification within first year of hire)

* BLS certification required

* 1-3 years previous experience preferred

* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills required
