Olin Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls has an opening for a full time Chemical Operator in Lemont, IL. The Lemont Plant is looking for a top-caliber, technically capable Chemical Operator who is action oriented, can make quality decisions quickly and possess excellent trouble shooting skills. We offer a competitive starting salary of $25.32/hour, increasing to $31.65/hour after successful completion of 90 working days. This position is part of the USW bargaining group.

The successful candidate will work as a member of a team operating a complex chemical production plant. He or she will monitor equipment operation and assist in startup, training and troubleshooting related equipment and chemical processes.

Chemical Operators receive information from supervisor or computer screen for job activities; monitor computer screens or graphic displays to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures. Operators are responsible for minor maintenance in area. Chemical Operators will also assist maintenance personnel when working on equipment to correct issues as well as maintain the complete housekeeping and painting in the associated work area to provide a clean and safe work area. He or she is also responsible for process sampling and analysis.

Chemical Operators work in different areas of the plant including: Shipping/Loading and Bleach Production.

Chemical Operators demonstrate behaviors supportive of safe work environments for everyone, including reporting of near misses and incidents and assisting with incident investigations. He or she constantly monitor field operating parameters to ensure quality requirements and perform all duties in alignment with Olin's Quality Policy and per the ISO9001/RC14001 standards and procedures. He or she uses various controls systems to monitor, control and adjust equipment operations for tanks, reactor, pumps, coolers, and scrubber within established SOP standards.

Consequences of errors: Chemical Operators work with hazardous chemicals and complex equipment. Errors in work could be lethal to self or others. Lack of judgment could result in exposures of disastrous proportions. Errors could result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.

Qualifications :

* A minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience required (resume & application must demonstrate at least 2 years full time work experience); industrial experience preferred; process or chemical plant experience preferred. Please note if you select you have 5 years of full-time work experience in the screening questions your resume and/or application must reflect at least 60 months of full time work experience.

* High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate's degree in Process Technology or related discipline preferred

* Able to work all applicable shifts on a rotating basis (including weekends & holidays) and work overtime when needed

* Able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights

* Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces

* Pass a physical, drug screen and background check if job offer is received and accepted

* Ability to work a varied schedule including nights and weekends.
