VP Legal Counsel Labor

MGM Resorts Las Vegas, NV
It is the primary responsibility of the Vice President and Legal Counsel Labor to perform professional legal work related to traditional labor matters for MGM Resorts International and subsidiary organizations.

* Provide strategic and proactive legal advice and counseling on labor and employment matters, with a primary focus on traditional labor law.

* Develop and maintain strong business relationships as a key relationship manager for the legal department among the various internal business groups requiring legal support.

* Demonstrate leadership and team-working skills in support of a collaborative environment.

* Supervise department attorneys, paralegals and staff on work assignments.

* Prepares responses to and represents MGM Resorts International and subsidiary organizations regarding complaints/claims filed with federal and/or state agencies (e.g. NLRB, EEOC, DOL, etc.) or courts.

* Performs legal research regarding employment matters; provides guidance on compliance with, and interpretation of, applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.

* Exercise discretion and independent judgment commensurate with specialized legal skills and experience.

* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


* Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible legal experience with an emphasis in Labor and Employment.

* Juris Doctor Degree

* Licensed to practice law in Nevada or in another U.S. state

* Ability to travel regularly

* Must be able to work varied hours and shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as work load and projects demand.


* Substantial experience with collective bargaining, NLRA advice and counsel, lead counsel in traditional labor arbitration, and collective bargaining agreement interpretation.

* Previous hospitality/gaming experience.

* Previous in-house experience.

* Experience with the supervision of other attorneys and legal staff.
