Description/Purpose of Position:

Responsible for preparing statistical reports, codingdiseases and operations according to accepted classification systemsand maintaining indices according to established policies andprocedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Graduation fromhigh school or equivalent. Graduate as a Registered HealthInformation Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health InformationTechnician (RHIT) from an approved program by the American HealthInformation Management Association (AHIMA). Required credentialingpreferred but not necessary.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years experience. Credentialed and have the abilityto code either OP/ER/ASC and/or Inpatient charts; or, no credentialsbut has the ability to code both Inpatient, Outpatient, ER & ASCcharts proficiently.

Technical Skills:

Computer proficiency, analytical skills, ICD 9-CM/CPT codingknowledge.

License/Certification:

RHIT/RHIA orCCS preferred.

Other:

Demonstratedknowledge of coding procedures, extensive reimbursement systemknowledge, written and verbal communication skills. Must possessknowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, andpathophysiology.
