This Health Care Assistant position if for a back office medical assistant in the Neurology Clinic. Daily job duties include, but are not limited to, preparing exam rooms; preparing charts; scheduling and coordinating tests; retrieving and distributing results to physicians; completing and verifying forms; maintaining general filing system; preparing supplies and cleaning examination rooms; ordering supplies; recording patient history; taking chief complaint; taking vital signs; performing and assisting with procedures, examinations and treatments; ability to cross cover positions within scope of practice in the clinic.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in the use word processing and database software, a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience. May require knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems. May require certification as a medical assistant. Must be a certified medical assistant with current certification, which must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Experience working in a clinical-neurology care setting with multiple providers including resident physicians; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
