The Bureau of Local Government and School Services is looking for another "Rockstar" to join our Analytics and Outreach Section. If you are extraordinary and enjoy analyzing data, researching and writing policy, and providing training to make a difference... this job may be right for you! Our team works with municipal governments helping them identify trends and patterns related to their fiscal and operational health. In addition, we are building new interactive programs that analyze and use large data sets to work with and partner with our local communities. By working as a team we are creating new innovative tools and solutions that help ensure that we have stronger, vibrant, and sustainable communities in the State of Michigan.

Other highlights of this job include but are not limited to the following:

* Building relationships with municipal government employees to support work and respond to strategic requests.

* Working on special projects and assisting in the development of strategic initiatives for the Community Engagement and Finance Division, focusing on performing analytical review and analysis.

* Review complex municipal government budget worksheets, cash flows, financial reports, and service delivery indicators.

* Analyze local retirement pensions and retiree health care to help protect benefits while ensuring the benefits are affordable.

* Building professional relationships within all levels of Treasury, other state and federal agencies, statewide associations, the state legislature, and communities around the State of Michigan.

Position Description

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. Major in public administration, finance, economics, business administration or related field is preferred.

Experience

Note: Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.

Departmental Analyst 9

No specific type or amount is required.

Departmental Analyst 10

One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11

Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
