Apply today to have the chance to join one of our SUTQ rated centers!The Family Life Child Care Center in Berea is seeking a strong, dedicated, and active full-time Teaching Assistant in our toddler classroom. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm (subject to change). This position requires at least a high school diploma. The Family Life Child Care Centers hold a 3 star SUTQ rating or above.Candidates must demonstrate Our Promise each and every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics. Engage agency Volunteers and Interns to enhance program performance, provide an educational workplace experience and support the agency's mission.

Essential Functions:

* Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum for assigned children.

* Maintains the daily activity schedule and keeps appropriate records including daily observations of emotional, physical, social and intellectual development when necessary.

* Responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy environment for children which includes ensuring cleanliness and safety of the children, facility, equipment, and toys. This also may involve providing first aid treatment when necessary.

* Observations of potential health problems should be communicated.

* Training to be completed includes First Aid, Recognition and Prevention of Communicable Diseases, CPR, and Recognition of Child Abuse.

* Assists in maintaining progress records on the development and activities of each child when required.

* Maintains appropriate communication with children, parents, staff, supervisors, and others as required.

* Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

* May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.

* In times of need, employee may be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by their supervisor.

Performance/Physical Requirements:

* Ability to work with many different age groups and personalities.

* Maintain a high level of enthusiasm and energy.

* Assures the careful and proper transition of the child to and from the center and return to the designated adult.

* Ability and willingness to participate in organized games and activities with the children.

* Maintain confidentiality of children and staff.

* Work is performed with children of various ages. It involves extensive bending, stooping, lifting of children or infants, (various sizes and weights) standing, walking, and cleaning of equipment, play and eating areas.

* English reading and writing skills required

* Interacts verbally with children, coworkers, representatives from outside agencies, and families

* Stair climbing required to reach classes and offices depending on the Family Life Program center

* Staff may be required to drive if the following criteria are met:


* Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

* Must have High School Diploma, GED, or completed a training program approved by the State Department of Public Welfare, Education, or Bureau of Employment Services

* If in a preschool room, must have a minimum of a CDA or CPL2 and working towards an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or approved field

* If in an infant or toddler room, must be working towards a degree in a Step Up to Quality approved field
