Sr Financial Analyst - Merchandising & Supplier Management

Primary Function

Provide financial and decision support to the Merchandising & Supplier Management team that will be responsible for delivering goals of growing GP$, customer acquisition and share. Assist as this newly formed organization that is responsible for $3.8B in COGS sets out to create the most functionally comprehensive assortment and enable customers to quickly find the product that solves their problem.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

* Develop standard analyses and metrics around the various functions within Merchandising & Supplier Management. Assist in business decisions based on the results of these analyses and metrics.

* Provide financial guidance and leadership to the following:

* Supplier Management organization that is responsible for supplier relationships as well as procurement and sourcing of $3.8B in annual COGS

* Merchandising organization that sets the product assortment for our customers

* Publishing assets which help customers make a purchasing decision

* Product Info & Search which enable customers to find the product they need to solve their problems effectively

* Operations & Indirect Procurement organizations who help provide standardization of work and cost savings throughout Grainger

* 600+ team members – 50% domestic and 50% international

* Continually improve analytical techniques, forecast accuracy, and improve reporting reducing data gathering time and provide actionable analysis and commentary.

* Exhibit flexibility and agility to support all areas of MSM and perform ad hoc analysis as required.

Preferred Education & Experience

* Strong competency in relevant financial analysis and modeling.

* Broad business knowledge and organizational awareness as well as an understanding of business profitability drivers.

* Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with management -- especially Director and Sr. Director level.

* Should be comfortable operating within a dynamic and complex organizational structure, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and be effective in a team-oriented environment.

* Technologically savvy in order to drive effective means of processing and reporting critical business information.

* Strong work ethic and results orientation required for fast paced, customer-focused environment.

* Able to work with minimal supervision.
