Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Ensures the safe, clean and efficient work environment which includes, but not limited to, Shop areas, operational areas and grounds.

* Assists in developing a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness.

* Ability to hire qualified employees to meet the facility's needs.

* Conduct analysis of workload as compared to maintenance manpower and equipment; matches the skill and background of personnel to work required.

* Establishes the maintenance workforce schedule according to business needs.

* Supervises and audits the work of employees who repair and maintain buildings/facilities.

* Partner with Operations to develop efficient preventative maintenance schedule.

* May be involved in new construction or modification of existing properties.

* Conducts regular meetings with employees to review important messages and safety issues.

* Coordinate all alarm-monitoring systems and review sprinkler system testing.

* Execute safety and sanitation schedules that ensure the facility's compliance with Corporate, OSHA, FDA, AIB or ASI standards.

* Conduct warehouse inspections in absence of/or with General Managers. Act as point of contact for all fire, safety and sanitation inspections. Develop local vendor contacts to supply facility.

* May help assist in ensuring that all licensing and permits are in place as required by state and local law.

* May assist in the annual review of vendor contracts, determining and recommending price / service changes to Operations.

* Involved with budget review process and responsible for expense tracking.

* Develop and implement an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and termination.

* Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with customers and service providers. Ensure that all personnel do the same

* Performs other duties as requested by facility leadership.


* May be required to meet certain certifications in field.

* Requires at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

* At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.

* Computer applications using MS office and Excel.

* Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas as necessary.

* Excellent supervisory skills.

* Excellent customer service skills.

* Bilingual English/Spanish required (in some locations).


* Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and potentially holidays as needed by the customer

* Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.

* Lift and move totes up to 50 pounds.

* Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.

* Walking in the warehouse and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
