Production Planner

General Purpose of Job:

  • Planning Finished Goods to meet EDI/Sales Orders for MT, Service and Aftermarket Customers
  • Planning quantities and deliveries of inbound component shipments for direct material to support production and inventory targets
  • Maintaining Customer websites as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming EDI and manual customer sales orders for service and aftermarket customers
  • Translating data into master build and procurement schedule
  • Review daily and decide impact to EAC and make recommendations for changes to production schedules when needed
  • Maintain files that meet company record retention requirements
  • Customer liaison for scheduling and delivery
  • Communicate delivery schedules and issues to customer, negotiate delivery dates regularly
  • Monitor and maintain Explanner information as it relates to inventory and customer shipping requirements
  • Generate build requirements for production and make recommendations so inventory levels are optimized
  • Work with department personnel to make sure system is understood and functioning correctly
  • Maintain production components inventory so production schedules are not interrupted
  • Inventory to be maintained within pre-set space and storage requirements
  • Monitor Customer websites and maintain all required information
  • Make adjustments to production schedules when warranted
  • Communicate to all related departments
  • Review Kanban levels for production to ensure the correct finished inventories are maintained to support shipping requirements
  • Determined running order and make recommendations regularly
  • Inventories to be maintained between specific pre-determined parameters
  • Work with Department personnel to make sure system is understood and functioning correctly
  • Assist Accounting personnel to resolve any issues involving supplier receipts/billing transactions
  • Manage/create daily MT ship schedule and provide to Shipping department daily
  • Manage large volumes of part numbers/product for order/ship control of EGP aftermarket business
  • Compile component inventory for production
  • Complete cycle counts and investigate any discrepancies as needed
  • Generate component releases to Japan and Domestic Suppliers deciding on quantity and due date when orders are placed
  • Communicate with suppliers to make sure deliveries are made as required
  • Evaluate inventory levels of expendable packaging and order on a regular basis
  • Maintain consignment inventories to support production needs
  • Determine shipping and receiving schedule to minimize freight costs while maintaining pre-set storage requirements
  • Distribute weekly status report on production shipping and back-order condition
  • Assist with physical Inventory when scheduled by managing ticket control
  • Work with multiple departments to achieve the most accurate information while completing as efficiently as possible
  • Warehouse layout (ongoing) and visual identification
  • Writing work instructions and procedures to insure customer expectations are met
  • Propose and participate in cost saving initiatives
  • Work on cross functional teams as requested
  • Support of team members to achieve team goals (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale)
  • Full support of 5S5T program

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, with a major related to business, supply chain management or mathematics, or 1-4 years planning experience in the automotive industry and knowledge of EDI
  • Must have knowledge of MT, Service and aftermarket automotive standards as well as inventory control systems utilizing an integrated computer system (Explanner experience)
  • Must be familiar with PC including data base software, MS Word, MS Excel, and have data entry experience (including creating charting and spreadsheets in detail to capture specific data)
  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills, and strong interpersonal skills
