Building Technician (3 Positions)

Regular Full-time, Pay Grade 36, $12.41 BASE


The employee in this position performs basic preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment, and related systems, also demonstrates the ability to identify and understand structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. Also, this position includes maintaining and repairing cold rooms, growth chambers and auto claves. The ability to follow written specifications, plans, drawings, codes, etc. Troubleshoot systems using wiring schematics and electronic test instruments; troubleshoot and repair electronic lighting and HVAC systems. Additional duties to include maintenance and repair of various equipment including lifts and other heavy equipment within Zone Maintenance. Assist with lift training. Employee must keep work site and maintenance shop clean and safe.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school degree or equivalent; four years experience or two years experience and trade school (experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.)

Valid Tennessee Driver's License

Applicant must be able to wear a respirator.

The applicant should have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, staff, and university personnel and work with others in a respectful, cooperative manner. Also, applicant must be able to communicate very effectively and coordinate with building occupants in assisting with events and other special needs. Applicant should be reliable in attendance, clean and neat in appearance, be in good physical health and able to perform moderately strenuous work activities.
