Position: 21st Century Program Supervisor; Independent Contractor

Function: The primary purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and administer a comprehensive after-school activity program for District students in compliance with the provisions of the 21st Century Program grant. The Supervisor will oversee all program activities, staff, and volunteers at all sites.

Qualification:

* Minimum age 18 years;

* High School Diploma or equivalent;

* Background and criminal history clearance;

* Experience working in a school setting or with youth programs;

* Demonstrates a high level of communication skills and

* Skill in leadership and facilitation of work involving colleagues and administrators, including problem-solving and conflict resolution;

* Excellent organizational skills for effectively managing multiple tasks;

* Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;

* Knowledge of effective student behavior management methods;

* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Functions:

* Communicates effectively in English, both oral and written form.

* Coordinates 21st Century program for students and/or parents at Conger, Mills, Pelican, Roosevelt Elementary, Ponderosa Middle School, and Klamath Union High school through collaboration and coordination with staff, students, and parents/guardians and identified community partners.

* Submits all grant reports annually required by ODE and submission of yearly budgets.

* Identifies and schedules appropriate cultural, health fitness, enrichment, and educational activities and programs.

* Recruits, screens, interviews and recommends the hiring of all program personnel.

* Supervises directs and evaluates Assistant Program Staff, Academic Instructors and Coordinators, Curriculum Leaders, and other assigned personnel.

* Provides orientation, training, and staff development activities for all personnel as needed.

* Maintains attendance records for students data necessary for ODE reports through ODE required evaluations and assessment tools.

* Makes arrangements for facility use and monitors appropriate use.

* Develops a proposed budget, approves requisitions and monitors budget expenditures.

* Responds to questions and other information requests from parents, participants, public, staff and administration.

* Markets and promotes program participation among students, parents and the community.

* Communicates with site administration and staff regarding program activities and issues.

* Serves as liaison to Klamath Falls City Schools staff and Oregon Department of Education program monitors in the administration of the grant.

* Monitors and evaluates classes, program activities, and program operations to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and safety.

* Manages student behavior issues as needed, takes appropriate action and contacts parents.

* Provides for student supervision during all program activities until released to parents or district transportation.

* Develops and submits reports as required by supervisor.

* Follows all safety rules and takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe and secure working environment for all department employees.

* Demonstrates support for District Strategic Plan and School-wide Improvement plans.

* Establishes and maintains a positive and respectful learning environment and working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents/guardians and community members.

* Assists parents and community members as needed.

* Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural and multilingual values and environments.

* Complies with professional development activities as required by the District.

* Actively seeks out and participates in professional development activities designed to improve professional competence.

* Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving information or sharing information and expertise with students, colleagues and parents/guardians.

* Holds expectations for high performance of self and supervised staff.

* Assesses results of performance for improvement on a regular basis.

* Maintains accurate, complete and confidential records as required by law and District policy and regulations.

* Maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague or district patron, and uses or relays academic, social, or personal information only in the course of performing assigned responsibilities and in the best interest of the individuals involved.

* Follows all laws, District policies, ODE grant compliance rules, regulations, memos, announcements and reasonable request by proper authority.

* Adheres to the same ethical standards as outlined in the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Standards for Competent and Ethical Educators.

* Other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

* The employee is expected to be dressed and groomed in a neat, clean and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.

* This position is performed primarily indoors in school buildings and offices, although some outdoor work or supervision may be required.
