Obtains a health history of patients on admission. Receives and administers orders for IV infusions, blood transfusions, injections and phlebotomies. Assesses and monitors patients during the administration of medication. Provides patient education on the medications and their side effects. Instructs patients on the care and use of pumps when sent home with the patient. Shifts may be varied Monday-Friday with occasional weekend coverage as well.
Required: Graduate of accredited school or nursing
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Required: Current Nursing assessment and patient care skills, ability to communicate effectively, ability to master new skills.
Preferred: Knowledge of IV Therapy processes and procedures
Required: Unrestricted Texas license as a Registered Nurse and certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Preferred: Oncology Certified Nurse
Required: Two years’ experience as a RN in a hospital or outpatient environment.
Preferred: One year experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center or Infusion Center.
