Job Description

The Transportation Manager is responsible for the management of all functions associated with the company’s Domestic, Import and Export transportation. The primary purpose of this position is to optimize the supply chain by managing 3rd party transportation to operate with high standards of cost efficiency, operational quality and service to internal and external customers.

Primary Duties are as follows:

Develop continuous improvement activities in support of reducing costs and improving service in all the company’s Transportation modes (OTR, Rail, Import/Export, etc.) to internal and external customers

Determine communication, implementation and compliance for the company’s Transportation group with Global/Regional/Local standards and policies (Directives, Manuals, Procedures, etc.)

Manage domestic carrier relationships and performance management in coordination with Supply Chain Purchasing

Participate in and report on major Global/Regional/Local projects involving Transportation (C-TPAT, network design, rail optimization, etc.)

Initiate and manage freight claims for outbound truck and intermodal shipments

Manage Third Party outbound transportation complaints as a Responsible Complaint Manager (RCM).

Support outbound transportation RFQ process as a member of the Purchasing-Logistics team

Maintain SAP Transport Pricing Database (TTRA)

Regularly monitor industry activities to remain current with industry and regulatory trends

Support internal customer projects involving outbound domestic transportation

MUST HAVE extensive knowledge of International Import / Export Transportation rules & regulations

Strong knowledge and experience with NAFTA Transportation operations and best practices

Extensive knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

BS degree preferred
