Job Overview

Title: Material Specialist/Water Strider – Anodize Lines

Job Family: Operations

Type: Full Time – 3rd shift

Job Summary

Responsible for delivery of customer orders, direct materials, and MRO items in support of production operations. Responsible for efficient presentation of above items to work cells and execution of predetermined material routes.


* Coordinates the movement of materials from planning area to first production operation with the documented material presentation including right sized carts, proper item orientation, and designated packaging. Also will transport designated materials from stockroom/supermarket to production cells as needed.

* Responsible for developing loads for anodize lines based on number of jobs, processes needed, racking needs, and latest due dates. Work with line operators and supervisor to maximize efficiency of loads.

* Work with customer service to fix quantity errors on orders and planning to correct routing errors for specified items.

* Work with materials and production staff to monitor and maintain optimal levels of work in progress and MRO items within the cells. If necessary, communicate with Hytek buyers and suppliers who provide vendor managed services regarding changes in specifications or usage.

* Work with customer service and sales personnel to expedite chosen jobs through the manufacturing process.

* Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service. Be involved in Kaizen events as needed either as a participant or supporter.

* Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.


* Ability to operate company truck and possess current forklift certification.

* Ability to use/learn Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.

* Internal and External customer service skills, ability to problem solve and communicate options and solutions to all levels of Hytek personnel (managers, supervisors, peers) and outside vendors.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

* 1-2 years in manufacturing material handling.

* Forklift certification.

Essential Mental/Physical Demands

Sitting/standing/walking for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Walking throughout the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, safety glasses and hearing protection are required.
