Accent Controls, Inc. is seeking a full time Safety Manager. ACI offers a competitive salary and benefits. The successful candidate will work in an office environment, as well as in the field. ACI, based in North Kansas City, Mo., provides engineering services, specializing in systems automation, as well as government services, in the areas of logistics, warehouse management and operations, transportation, facilities management and maintenance.

The Safety Manager performs the safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety program enforcement for contractor operations, which includes safety and accident prevention to ensure compliance with local, state and federal occupational safety and health regulations, policies and procedures.

* Developing and providing safety training and hazard mitigation; developing and implementing written safety policies and procedures; and conducting field inspection of work places for possible hazards and exposures, as well as conducting accident and workstation investigations.

* Duties may also include assisting with emergency and disaster preparedness.

This position is also responsible for analyzing, planning, advising, operating, and evaluating the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.

Knowledge of:

* Principles, techniques and methods of occupational health and safety administration;

* Operating safety testing equipment, supplies and personal protective equipment;

* OSHA national industry safety standards; codes, regulations, and policies;

* Effective training methods; safety and security standards;

* Principles of record keeping and records management for safety and security.

Ability to:

* Apply the principles of loss prevention and security risk identification;

* Present information clearly and concisely to various audiences;

* Perform safety inspections and all safety and health tests and training needs;

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees;

* Maintain safety related paperwork, including OSHA 300 logs and safety training certifications, such as OSHA OTI

* Formulate reports, store and retrieve statistical data; compose correspondence;

* Enforces use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment;

* Perform extensive research, make independent analysis, and report findings;

* Maintains liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments and rescue teams to assure information exchange and mutual assistance;

* Communicate effectively verbally and in writing;

* Ability to travel overnight to various worksites, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent with experience, abilities and competence required to perform in a wide scope related to the position. Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management, Risk Management, Environmental Safety, Public or Business Administration, or related field (preferred)

* Five (5) years of experience in developing, implementing and coordinating safety, accident prevention and loss control programs, including performing safety training and audits;

* OSHA 10 and 30-hour certifications;

* OSHA OTI Certification (preferred), trade-specific safety certifications and leadership training and certifications;

* Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
