US News & World Report has recognized the CMH Division of Nephrology as the #5 pediatric nephrology team in the nation and we are seeking to add an energetic, highly skilled RN to our dialysis team!

Qualified candidates will function independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide knowledgeable, compassionate care for patients with chronic and acute renal failure.

* Execute and monitor hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments in the outpatient setting

* Initiate treatment and coordinate care of the patient receiving CRRT and dialysis in the NICU, PICU, and inpatient floors

* Actively participate in division QAPI programs

* Educate patients receiving renal replacement therapy

* Coordinate placement and surveillance of venous access sites

* Integrate quality patient care and research initiatives into daily practice.

Job Responsibilities:

Provides expert scientifically based illness management and health promotion for patients and families with acute renal failure and end-stage renal disease whose needs range from uncomplicated to complex. Dialysis Nurse Specialists utilize the nursing process to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, age-appropriate care for their patients and families. They provide ESRD patient and family education, advocate and coordinate care to meet the patients and family's comprehensive health needs. The Dialysis Nurse Specialist in collaboration with the PICU Extracorporeal team performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures in the treatment of acute renal failure. They utilize advanced critical thinking skills to form an independent plan of care and quickly identify changes in the patient's status. The Dialysis Nurse Specialist contributes to improved patient care outcomes through evidence-based quality improvement efforts and by participating in quality assessment/process improvement (QAPI) in accordance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and other regulatory bodies.

Job Requirements:

* Bachelors degree (BSN)

* Masters degree (preferred)

* 1-2 years' dialysis experience and/or pediatric nursing experience preferred

* Current professional nursing license in Missouri AND Kansas

* Specialty Nursing Certification encouraged for all eligible nurses preferred

* On call 1-2 evenings/nights per week (7p - 7a)
