The Director, Strategy & Insights will craft strategies and creative briefs to inspire unique, break-through creative for an iconic global technology brand. This person ensures that every effort is on brand, on target and ladders back to the goals and objectives of the brand opportunity. They’re the go-to in meetings and a muse for inspiring powerful creative ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing plans, communication and consumer touch point strategies
  • Create a range of client ready artifacts
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of the intersection of customer motivations, culture and client business needs
  • Work with insights teams from client side and VMLY&R’s primary and secondary researchers to translate findings into insights that fuel great creative
  • Monitor and interpret cultural and social trends relevant to the client’s business
  • Craft creative briefs and lead inspired briefings, remain an active contributor throughout the creative development process
  • Partner with account management and creative to grow the business

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to rapidly synthesize large quantities of information, identify critical observations and insights, and summarize driving implications and opportunities
  • Ability to effectively lead, influence and negotiate across different disciplines, internal and external, to achieve desired outcomes
  • An innovator and visionary with a creative imagination and a way of working that inspires creativity
  • Help the client make smart decisions on behalf of the business AND the audience
  • Advocate for the audience and their story
  • Earn full confidence of the Creative team
  • Work almost entirely independently from the Group Director
  • Lead Key clients ($5-7MM in revenue); responsible for presentation deliverables
  • Direct contact with client
  • Work with more junior talent and train them on key activities
  • Go beyond briefs to lead annual planning for key clients
  • Become a trusted advisor to your clients and creative teams.
  • Ability to persuade clients to change or adjust their strategic approach

Required Experience

  • Proven ability to rapidly synthesize large quantities of information, identify critical observations and insights, and summarize driving implications and opportunities
  • Ability to effectively lead, influence and negotiate across different disciplines to achieve desired outcomes
  • Eight to twelve years of marketing experience with at least five years of strategic client leadership experience
  • Technology and breakthrough B2B marketing experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related major such as advertising, marketing or psychology
  • Previous experience developing B2B marketing strategy, insights, media strategy, or account planning preferred
