The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has an immediate opening for a Liability Claims Adjuster. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and intellectually stimulating environment for an established local company which continues to grow, located in Grain Valley Missouri (just east of Kansas City, MO). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years bodily injury liability claims adjusting experience, including large, medically complex cases, and possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Position Summary

  • Investigates and evaluates assigned bodily injury and property damage claims for coverage, liability, and appropriate settlement value.
  • Establishes case reserves and revises as needed to reflect probable exposure.
  • Extensive communication with insureds, claimants, attorneys, motor carriers, tow companies, government bureaus, outside adjusters, industry professionals, witnesses, and any other person(s) or entities relevant to the investigation and evaluation of a given claim.
  • Reviews field adjusters' reports and estimates of damage to evaluate property damage settlements.
  • Prepares report of investigative findings and negotiates settlements with claimants or their legal counsel.
  • Prepares written correspondence as needed.
  • Maintains and proactively works an inventory of pending claims in an organized and efficient manner to move each claim forward as timely as possible to resolution.
  • Works with In-house Counsel and approved local counsel on litigated claims. Attends litigation hearings when needed.
  • Performs various special projects as needed.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while providing excellent customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
