Aviation Security Management, LLC (ASM) is a rapidly growing woman-owned small business specializing in security consulting and operations. We are seeking individuals to join our team as Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to provide security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As a TSO your primary concern will be screening passengers, baggage, and cargo to identify and prevent dangerous objects from being transported onto aircraft. To provide security and protection of air travelers, you will use screening equipment and perform searches, which could include physical interaction with passengers during pat-downs and searches of personal property. You will also monitor and control access to the secure area of the terminal at entry and exit points. During all activities you will maintain your focus and awareness of the environment. Through your knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, you will mitigate actual and potential security threats by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate options and approaches to situations that arise. Additionally, you will respond to inquiries from the public and give directions. At all times you will be expected to conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner, respond responsibly and dependably in both routine and crisis situations, display excellent customer service skills, and demonstrate the flexibility required to adapt to new information or unexpected obstacles.
You must be proficient in English, which is defined as the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend, with fluency, any information that is presented in English. You must have a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent. Preference will be given to individuals who have at least one year of full-time work experience in the security or intelligence industry or as an X-ray technician.
If determined to be qualified, you may be asked to interview with ASM, after which, you may be offered employment contingent on a wide range of assessments, all of which must be completed successfully.
You will be asked to participate in a computerized assessment that confirms your proficiency in English and potential ability to interpret X-rays. Successful completion of this testing will further qualify you to be scheduled for additional assessments, to include a color vision test, drug screening, and a medical evaluation which includes tests of vision, hearing, and joint mobility exam. Specific medical requirements for this position considered in this medical assessment of all relative aspects of all body systems include, but are not limited to:
Visual ability including two functioning eyes with: 1) visual acuity, corrected or uncorrected, of 20/20 or better at 3 distances and 2) ability to distinguish colors (e.g., red, green, blue, yellow, orange, purple, brown, black, white, gray). Tinted lenses for enhancing color discrimination are prohibited; Hearing loss (aided or unaided) as measured by audiometry cannot exceed: 1) average hearing loss of 25 decibels at 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000Hz in each ear, and 2) hearing loss in excess of this threshold requires evaluation by an audiologist; Adequate joint mobility dexterity and range of motion, strength, and stability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds; and blood pressure not to exceed 160/100.
After all preliminary qualifications and evaluations are met and completed, you will be required to complete a Standard Form 86, questionnaire for National Security Positions (SF86) to initiate your background investigation which must be completed favorably. You must maintain this status for the duration of employment.
Please note, all TSOs MUST
- BE available to work any day of the week (Monday-Sunday), any shift (1200AM-1159PM).
- BE a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- BE at least 18 years of age.
- PASS a Drug Screening and Medical Evaluation.
- PASS a background investigation including a credit and criminal check.
- NOT HAVE cumulative delinquent debt of $7500 or more.
- NOT HAVE unpaid Federal or State tax liens.
- NOT HAVE delinquent child support payments (not applicable if arrears are actively being paid).
- NOT HAVE delinquent student loans.
- NOT HAVE any unsatisfied court judgments.
As a new hire, you will be required to attend an initial off-site training program that is approximately 2 weeks long. No training or travel expenses associated with this are your responsibility. Initial training must be completed successfully to secure your permanent employment with ASM. You will be required to complete additional training periodically, and successful completion of all training, internally developed or otherwise, will be required to continue employment.
