Open opportunity for an individual with knowledge of statutes, principles, practices and terminology of licensed professions; knowledge and understanding of methods and techniques used in legal research and writing; and knowledge of general provisions of the state and federal statutes, case law, administrative law, appellate practice, judicial review and court rules and procedures. Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively; work in a team environment; multi-task and work under pressure; make routine decisions in accordance with established laws; and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

This is a full-time benefit eligible position, located in Jefferson City, Missouri. Starting Salary: $29,976 - $31,766.

Position Details

This position is responsible for answering telephone calls and emails for the board's legal section; preparing certified copies of board records in accordance with the Sunshine Law and applicable statutes and rules; assisting legal counsel with research, preparation, and presentation of rules and proposed legislation; sending post directive letters after conference calls and meetings; compiling data; and performing legal research and preparing memorandums stating facts and conclusions. Successful candidate will also be responsible for data entry into licensure and case review system; maintaining court files and docket systems; and assisting counsel in preparation for hearings. Must have knowledge of computer applications including Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access.


* A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Business Administration, social sciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related field.


* An Associate's degree in paralegal studies or closely related field.


* Three or more years' experience in processing licensure applications; as a paralegal or legal assistant; or reviewing official documentation for compliance and/or validity;

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years for the required general experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year).
