Open opportunity for an individual with considerable knowledge of financial analysis, auditing, accounting, and management principles and procedures; the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial, operational and related company information and develop comprehensive reports on the information; the ability to evaluate state regulations and legislation to determine fiscal impact; ability to communicate effectively and prepare complete and concise reports.

This is a full-time benefit eligible position, located in Jefferson City. Starting Salary: $39,000 - $40,416

Position Details

This position is responsible for conducting the periodic or special examinations/audits of preneed business records for conformance to regulations; reviewing and analyzing preneed contracts between consumers and preneed sellers in the funeral industry; reconciling and evaluating the registration and handlings of preneed contract moneys and other funds collected; collecting, analyzing and evaluating evidence for use in legal actions and preparing detailed reports of findings; and testifying in court and hearings concerning findings. This position is also responsible for ensuring reports are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as agency and state requirements and coordinating communication relating to ongoing examinations/audits with other agencies when joint efforts are needed. Successful candidate must have working knowledge of Microsoft office software, specifically Excel, Access, and Word.

Qualifications

* Two years of professional experience in accounting, or finance of which one year must have involved statutory accounting or insurance regulation; and

* Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in finance, accounting, auditing risk management, business management or closely related areas, including a minimum of fifteen semester hours in accounting.

(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year for year basis for deficiencies in the required education)
