This position works closely with leadership to foster a continuous improvement environment within the Operation. Responsible for coordination of activities related to SQF (Safety Quality Food) programs understanding training needs plant wide and developing materials to support them. Evaluating training effectiveness to ensure employee development, maintains and tracks training progression, provides and ensures consistent training for the facility. Subject matter expert for Operations, SQF, resources and leads continuous improvement projects as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOBS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for achieving plant Safety, Quality and Productivity goals.
- Complete a minimum of 2 Observation and 2 Near miss audits per month.
- Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provide clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
- Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
- Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc...)
- Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
- Participate in meetings and inspections to promote and reward a culture of teamwork and respect among all employees.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a training matrix to help assess, train, and keep track of training needs for Supervisors.
- Identifies areas of operational opportunity for continues improvement.
- May assist in the development and facilitation of additional training materials and program.
- Support with Plant leaders to develop Continuous Improvement strategies that close key business gaps.
- Support kaizens and focused C.I. events to implement improvement strategies on all shifts working closely with Manufacturing Supervisors and Operators.
- Utilize Lean principles and Best Practices to establish new work standards for machines, processes and people, to generate productivity savings, improve quality and increase OTD.
- Oversee the development, implementation, review, management, and maintenance of the plant's Food Packaging Safety Programs including SQF System.
- Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
- Take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF System
- Validate changes to Food Packaging Safety Fundamentals and HACCP Plan that have an impact on the ability to deliver safe, quality food packaging.
- Responsible for the validation and verification of the following SQF requirements:
- Pre-requisite programs
- Critical control points
- Critical packaging safety limits
- Monitoring activities
- Sampling, inspection and analysis for Food Packaging Safety
- Schedule and lead internal audits for Food Packaging Safety
- Ensure SQF training is conducted for required team members within plant.
- Any other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of Food Packaging Safety and/or Quality experience in an industrial setting preferred
- B.S. degree in Food Science or related field or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum 6 years' progressive manufacturing experience. Plastics industry a plus.
Manufacturing environment: SQF and GMP.
