Advanced Electrical & Controls Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

This Engineering candidate will design/develop electrical hardware, control strategies and algorithms for internal and external customers. Support customers by offering control recommendations, and on-site support for tuning and calibration. The candidate will have responsibility for design, test, and fabrication of controller electronic hardware. The candidate is also responsible for controller embedded software including writing code, maintaining code and modifying code to support different platforms and test configurations. Responsibility for installation and support of control hardware/software on test stands in other regions of the world. Develop calibrations for testing and new product designs. Modifies and creates circuit designs and software to support new applications. Works with internal and external resources for new product development. Design and build special electronic test hardware for in-house test stands, customers and suppliers.

The individual will be responsible for advanced algorithm development and tuning of microprocessor based Controllers. They will also be responsible for the development of Rapid Prototype controls for advanced projects on firing and motored engines on our dyno and emission cells. They will be part of the controls team to implement electro-mechanical hardware and controls for customer programs and internal Advanced Product Development projects working with Product Development Engineering and Engineering Services.

The individual may lead project teams and will be responsible for ensuring the team's project achievements are completed on-time. This senior level engineer must be able to provide mentoring and direction as needed to enhance the capabilities of BorgWarner. The incumbent should possess a willingness and eagerness to undertake new and challenging work assignments, be able to find creative and mutually agreeable solutions to day to day resource and product issues.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Management:

* Provides required inputs and tasks for development projects.

* Ensures that projects are coordinated, documented and executed per project Gantt chart milestones.

2. Customer Relations:

* Respond to requests for analysis and customer requests in a timely manner.

* Assist in customer reviews of projects and programs.

Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Controls.

* 5 - 7+ years' experience in Electrical Design and classic control theory.

* Experience in automotive powertrain control electronics and components required.

* Experience with Matlab Simulink, Stateflow, INCA/CANape, automotive controllers and rapid development controls such as dSpace and MotoHawk systems.
