Position Overview:

Responsible for managing, implementing, and enforcing all ARPNA quality improvement programs associated with primary materials and additives, dealing directly with primary materials suppliers in establishing and maintaining prerequisite programs, and driving Root Cause and Corrective / Preventive Action recovery plans in the event of incidents. Establish specifications for customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serves as Corporate liaison for material supplier quality, supply, and transferability of technologies. Actively leads business process improvement efforts in support of Supply Chain, Sustainability, and Procurement goals
  • Supports Amcor contractual obligations and ensures materials supplier compliance
  • Maintains key contact relationship and facilitates partnerships with all suppliers. Manages material supplier's quality execution and interactions and delivery logistics, corporate specifications, and material integrations with ARP plants. Supports supplier quality management programs for Beverage, DP, as well as LA region, as required
  • Serves as primary contact with suppliers in the event of VIN's (Vendor Incidents), leads the investigation, secures Corrective and Preventive Action commitments, drives progress to conclusion, and closes out each incident. Systematically evaluates and improves the VIN system
  • Administers all materials related information required by plants in the appropriate centralized databases. Administers the Materials Engineering Change Request process
  • Provides guidance to operations, quality and engineering functions at the plant and corporate levels by implementing solutions that are in alignment with quality goals and objectives
  • Qualifies and validates new primary materials and additives for production
  • Audits and develops supplier facilities according to customer and regulatory requirements for product safety and good manufacturing practices
  • Participates in high-level problem solving and statistical analysis of product performance information to solve material related customer complaints
  • Works closely with Innovation and Product Development Engineering teams during development stages to select appropriate materials, building reliability into new designs
  • Articulates with integrity the Amcor corporate vision for Quality Management to customers and suppliers
  • Supports plants directly on an interim basis for skills training or during personnel transitions
  • Supervise direct reports
  • Supports establishment of budgetary guidelines, recommendations, and controls

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree Mathematics of Engineering
  • Professional Accreditation in Quality Engineering and Quality Management Systems
  • Five or more years experience with plastics and/or packaging or other high speed, high volume conversion processes in the production environment
  • Post-graduate professional development education and/or experience in Plastics Packaging Technologies and Quality Engineering
  • Excellent working knowledge of performance measurement and monitoring methods is required
  • Travel up to 40%
