Licensed Practical Nurse - Express Care Clinic

Renders nursing care in assigned area in terms of individualized client needs, according to dependent and independent nursing functions and conformance with recognized nursing technique, procedures, and established standards based on the scope of practical nursing, under the direction/delegation of the clinic management team and of the registered nurse and/or provider.

Essential Functions

Followsestablished policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, andsensitivity to confidential information

Performsgeneral nursing care. Administers prescribed medications and treatments inaccordance with nursing standards.

Aidsthe provider during patient examination, testing, and treatment.

Maintainstimely flow of patient appointments.

Greetspatients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients forappropriate information and documents all information in the Electronic MedicalRecords (EMR) system.

Arrangesfor patient testing and procedures and instructs the patient in theseprocedures as appropriate.

Assistsproviders with direct patient care, examinations, and treatment plans.

Preparespatients and assists providers with minor medical procedures.

Performsnursing procedures under provider's direction.

Respondsto and refers incoming telephone calls.

Instructspatients and/or family members regarding the medical condition of the patient,including medication and treatment.

Coordinatespatient care with other departments within Bell and with other community healthcare agencies.

Preparesexam rooms and treatment areas, including the re-stocking of all appropriatesupplies.

Attendsrequired meetings and in-services and maintains an active professional license.

Completesannual educational requirements.

Maintainsconfidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Performsother related duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements

MinimumEducation: Graduate of a Program in Discipline

RequiredSkills: Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimalsupervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action.

RequiredCertification(s):Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required License(s):Valid state license to practice practical nursing

Preferred WorkExperience: One year of prior experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
