The Part Time Instructor – In-Store Classes must have a passion for teaching with a friendly and charismatic personality. This individual will teach a variety of in-store classes across multiple locations and will be a brand ambassador for Michaels as well as many of our Private Labels. The Instructor is responsible for the development and execution of the ongoing in-store class program that differentiates Michaels and helps create customer loyalty to Michaels stores. The Instructor will be responsible for all areas of in-store classes as it relates to preparation, delivery, and feedback. Areas of focus include using the in-store class curriculum, cultivating and expanding the in-store class program, preparation and execution of in-store classes, and support internal Team Members and enhance the customer experience.
Major Activities
- Deliver selected Arts and Craft Class Content to students through step-by-step guidance and hands on instruction of materials
- Assist in onboarding new team members and instructors for in-store classes
- Provide assistance and oversight of customer experience through product knowledge in-store both in the classroom and on the sales floor
- Regularly evaluate in-store class for effectiveness and provide feedback to Support Center on updates required

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Minimum Education
- High School Education
Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills
- Knowledge of, or professional Artist/Crafter
Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Some study of Arts or related field

- Passionate about teaching
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with Customers/students as well as with Management and Support Teams
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to teach a variety of classes to a diverse audience
- Good with evolving environments and navigating some level of ambiguity

- Art Degree or Art Student
Preferred Special Certifications or Technical Skills
- Teaching certificate in art or a related field
Preferred Type of Experience the Job Requires
- Experience in teaching or instructing Arts and Crafts classes
- Experience in taking lessons of Arts and Crafts
