Job Description

Arcadis is seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to support a growing number of national projects primarily in the Oil and Gas Market Sector. This is a mid-level opportunity for a dynamic individual looking to join a growing our Industrial Infrastructure Group. This position will be located in one of Arcadis' Southern California offices, preferably Irvine, CA.

Job Summary:

Plans, designs, coordinates, and oversees engineering projects. Works as part of a multidisciplinary project team on projects primarily in the oil and gas sector and other industries include utilities, telecommunication, mining and water treatment. Work will entail a mixture of design, proposal preparation, report writing, task management and construction-phase field engineering. The ideal candidate would be interested in progressing into task/project management and be willing to take on some managerial related tasks.

Required Skills:

* Capable of functioning with spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.

* Ability to draw with Autocad and work with drafters and designers to complete design projects.

* Understanding of applicable codes and regulations relevant to Oil and Gas (e.g., ASME 31.3 process piping).

* Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (Examples include software such as pipe stress models or Civil 3D).

* Basic knowledge of site layout and process piping.Understanding of the detailed design process for generating contract drawings and specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Review codes and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and work.

* Field work for site walks, taking measurements and supervising subcontractors (e.g., surveyors).

* Prepare designs, specifications, and construction documents.

* Apply engineering principles to develop effective solutions.

* Working as a member of design teams.

* Ability to work with virtual teams. Our teams may not be located at the same office.

* Complete planning and evaluation studies.

* Proposal preparation including the development of scopes, schedules and budgets for project planning.

* Calculate cost and determine feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data, applying knowledge and techniques of engineering, and advanced mathematics.

* Preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, engineering studies, and designs for project.

* Inspect construction site to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction standards.

* Address Request for Information (RFI) from contractors related to design and construction work.

* Oversee construction and maintenance activities at project site in support of construction management tasks and/or design-build projects.

* Be familiar with government, client, and industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects in their respective field.

* Has knowledge of applicable health and safety requirements and environmental concerns. Displays behaviors consistent with a strong health and safety culture.

* Develop familiarity with regulations governing the implementation and operations of these systems.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

* Will require visits to project sites. Estimated Travel up to 25%. Requires a valid driver license.

* May require work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

The successful candidate will have:

* Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, pipe stress models, hydraulic pipe models.

* Project Management and Technical Delivery Experience in similar works.

* Experience in a consulting engineering firm or operating companies in oil and gas.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related discipline

* 5-8 years of experience in similar type work

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related discipline

* EIT or Professional Engineering (P.E.) license

* 8-10 years of experience in similar type work
